SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the maintenance of mechnical, electrical, and plmbing systems to achieve guest satisfaction. Responsible for repair and maintenance of all physical facilities (both interior and exterior) throughout the hotel property. Responsible for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, drywall repairs, and lock repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.

Performs operations of HVAC, carpentery, painting, basic mechanics.

Performs the shift engineer's check list daily and reports any abnormalities.

Performs the safety checklist, fire-pump run test and generator run test weekly.

Responds to guest and emergency calls within 10 minutes.

Follows up with originating depatrment when complete.

Completes work orders in a timely manner; complete shop work in a timely manner.

Walks the hotel daily for burn-out light bulbs.

Enters all completed and non-completed work into the department log book daily.

Communicates status of work to Engineering Supervisors.

Practices emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards, reacts and assistsin any hotel emergency.

Performs all other related duties as assigend by supervisor.

Assists other departments by providing lateral service when possible.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school education; technical/vocational certifications preferred; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Be able to carry out structural repairs (plaster, tiles, drywall)
  • Plumbing (drain cleaning, repairing pipe leaks installing fixtures)
  • Electrical (nalyze electrical problemsand make repairs)
  • Analyze HVAC problems and make repairs.
    • Internet software
    • Spreadsheet software
    • Microsoft word
    • Basic Math ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
    • Current driver’s license
    • Carry out detailed, written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problemsinvolving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers or employees of organization.
