Engineer II, R&D

This is an R&D engineering position requiring at least 5 years of engineering experience to assist in the development, design and fabrication of equipment projects related to membrane development.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in conceptualizing new designs and documents the mechanical, electrical and chemical aspects of these designs using AutoCAD; Leads the execution of feasibility experiments and reports on those experiments which are then used to solve problems related to improving or developing new processes utilizing creative and innovative concepts; Coordinates custom part and equipment fabrication with machine shops, contractors and equipment vendors; Review part fabrication with outside machine shops and assists with any questions that may arise while parts are being fabricated; Specify and procure various equipment and components within the design; Tracking of purchase orders from initial purchase through receipt of the part; Perform machine assembly of fabricated and commercial parts according to designs - this includes machining of miscellaneous parts as well as trouble shooting; Coordinates equipment installation activities and supervises contractors (plumbers, electricians, etc.) and coordinates facility tie-ins; Execute equipment startup, equipment support and calibration; Communicates, in a timely manner, relevant information pertaining to specific projects; Tracking and reporting expenditures for purchased parts, materials and labor; Initiate job orders for machined parts & supply all necessary drawings. EDUCATION : Requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience of and experience with applicable laws, theories, concepts, and principles. EXPERIENCE : Extensive knowledge of all metal machining equipment (lathes, mills, drill press, etc.); Working knowledge of engineering standards and safety codes; Technical knowledge of mechanical and or electrical equipment and processes; Successful technical and project experience demonstrating equipment design and / or process development; Equipment / process validation; Knowledge of Autocad required.
