Engineering project management including budget development and economic evaluation.

Responsible for study, design, specification and services related to electrical and electronic systems including power generation, transmission and distribution, power systems performance and control, cabling and wiring, lighting, motor control centers, communications systems, cathodic protection, grounding lightning protection, heat tracing etc. Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.
Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Education or experience equivalent to a four year degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis in engineering; Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
A minimum of five to eight years technical and/or professional experience.
Strong knowledge of electric and steam generation industry, power plant operations and electrical power systems and equipment such as generators, exciters, transformers, relays, switchgear, cable, low voltage circuit breakers and trip units; motor control centers, electro-static precipitators, etc.
Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, quality control, and start-up and testing of key power distribution equipment within a generating facility.
System protection experience and arc flash analysis experience is also desired.
As many of the project tie into the plant control systems, experience with control systems is also preferred.
Engineering project management including budget development, economic evaluations, development of equipment / construction specifications, construction management, system start-up / commissioning, schedule development / management is required. Execution of multiple projects at the same time is also required.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred.
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
