Preparing specifications, budgets and schedules; to support projects; by performing research, conducting meetings and preparing documents and drawings.
Providing technical support for bus capital projects; to insure proper information is supplied to contractors and suppliers so that CTA requirements and needs are met; by researching past and present project records and files; by researching conditions and field operations, by reviewing drawings and plans, by preparing technical documents and reports by residing at manufacturers facilities.
Managing projects; to insure they are carried out in accordance with specifications, schedules and budgets; by overseeing project activities including visiting contractor plants, reading project reports and preparing project progress documents.
Reviewing manufacturing and construction processes; to insure compliance with specifications and drawings and CTA requirements; by visiting contractor and supplier plants to conduct inspections and by reviewing drawings and plans.
Providing support to other CTA departments; to assure complete and accurate information on CTA buses and equipment is used where needed; by reviewing documents, attending meetings, testifying in court and giving depositions, by responding to questions.
Providing support to outside contractors and consultants; to insure designs and equipment comply with requirements for CTA buses, by attending meetings, reviewing drawings and documents and responding to questions. Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 5 years experience with CTA vehicle design and construction, specification writing and dealing with contractors and suppliers
Computer skills in word processing, AUTO/CAD & Excel
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents
Experience in program development and management
Experience/knowledge of bus vehicles.
