This position is the top-level technical resource for the organization’s network communications infrastructure and related services, and is responsible for the enterprise-wide management of network infrastructure hardware and software. This person will be expected to: install, configure, and manage network communications hardware and software; monitor and manage LAN and WAN performance; manage various network services and address/designation systems related to network communications; work closely with vendors and others to provide a network infrastructure that meet the needs of the organization; establish and communicate policies, procedures, and standards for the use of the network infrastructure; ensure that critical business functions are protected from disruption due to network failure or unavailability; acts as a top level technical consultant to others in various areas of expertise.
Associate’s Degree in IS-related field or equivalent technical training is required. One (1) or more industry-standard certifications in applicable technologies or equivalent knowledge is required. Bachelor’s Degree in IS/IT related field and current Cisco or Microsoft certifications are preferred.
Five (5) years professional experience in IS/IT field and three (3) years of in-depth experience configuring and managing routers, hub, switches, and other network devices are required.
Expert level knowledge of and extensive experience with the following are all required: Cisco routers and switches; network management including network protocol analysis and troubleshooting, SNMP, network security, and network protocols (TCP/IP, and all related protocols); wireless networking; structured cabling systems; Internet technologies. A high degree of familiarity with Windows PC hardware and software, knowledge of and experience with Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 Serve Oss and UNIX are preferred.
Demonstrated abilities to lead high visibility projects, to work effectively and carefully under pressure, to meet project deadlines, to learn independently, to communicate effectively with a variety of people and to write well are required. Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
