In this role, the successful candidate will work with reliability engineers to setup, run and document the testing of robotic assemblies. The test technician will leverage electro-mechanical test expertise to develop and execute reliability demonstration and accelerated test plans. The technician will participate in the creation and troubleshooting of test equipment and automated measurement methods as well as interpret and communicate test results. This position will work closely with the project team to understand root cause and failure mechanisms and explore potential solutions to improve reliability. In this role, the test technician will contribute to the success of the product’s reliability program.
Required Skills / Experience: The position requires a healthy balance of electrical and mechanical knowledge including basic experience with electro-mechanical test equipment. Hands-on use of engineering lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DVMs) is expected. An understanding of servo control theory as well as experience with servo drives, motors and interface applications is required. The individual will have knowledge of component related mechanical failure modes and the physics behind it as well as the understanding of Root Cause Analysis concepts.
The test technician should have an understanding of Reliability Demonstration Testing and Failure Reporting Analysis Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, schematics, data books, manufacturer datasheets, mil handbooks, standards and specifications. The ability to be self directed, work in a multi-task environment and have strong engineering and team work skills is compulsory. It is essential that he/she has excellent overall written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets and Word documents is vital.
Education Requirements: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 1-2 years additional education/training or trade school (2-year Associates degree preferred). 2-4yrs of experience working in a manufacturing test environment required. Certifications in reliability or quality disciplines are desired. Further knowledge of Six Sigma problem solving tools like 8D is a plus.
