The Turbocharger Design Engineer will lead all Turbocharger related design activities for new Locomotive requisitions. In this role you will be responsible for translating system-level product specifications to Turbocharger subsystem-level requirements, executing thermal / mechanical analysis for optimized aerodynamic component selection, and managing sub-system / system-level validation.
In addition you will:
Execute thermal / mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Recommend optimum design approaches to meet the technical, performance, and program requirements
Organize cross-functional trade-off studies, resolve identified FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) items, and execute DFMEAs (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to mitigate product risk
Formulate and execute project plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments
Develop verification and validation plans for testing of designed parts and analysis of resulting test data
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Willingness and ability to travel both, domestic and internationally

Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design
Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent Quality certification
Experience with GT Power for engine matching analysis
Familiarity with Design for Reliability (DFMEA / FRACAS / RGT) processes
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
