The Turbocharger Design Engineer will lead all Turbocharger related design activities for new Locomotive requisitions. In this role you will be responsible for translating system-level product specifications to Turbocharger subsystem-level requirements, executing thermal / mechanical analysis for optimized aerodynamic component selection, and managing sub-system / system-level validation.

Essential Responsibilities
In addition you will:
  • Execute thermal / mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Recommend optimum design approaches to meet the technical, performance, and program requirements
  • Organize cross-functional trade-off studies, resolve identified FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) items, and execute DFMEAs (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to mitigate product risk
  • Formulate and execute project plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments
  • Develop verification and validation plans for testing of designed parts and analysis of resulting test data
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Eligibility Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to travel both, domestic and internationally

    Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent Quality certification
  • Experience with GT Power for engine matching analysis
  • Familiarity with Design for Reliability (DFMEA / FRACAS / RGT) processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
