About the Position:|
Develop projects to ensure electric distribution system operates in a safe and reliable fashion to meet customer requirements and expectations. This position supports a host of activities that address customer technical requirements; assists the regional customer operations in the technical operation of the distribution system; leads activities in tracking regional distribution reliability performance and promoting actions to improve it; and supports Electric Distribution Asset Management in completing its responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Prepare project justification documentation for various reliability and asset replacement projects. Achieve project approval, and progress work through engineering and design.
Evaluate the performance of existing URD systems then develop and implement projects to address asset condition and performance concerns.
Provide support for the development of necessary vendor contracts for cable insulation injection.
Provide support of customer outreach in support of project implementation. This may require presentation at evening meetings in affected municipalities.
Review customer requests and develop appropriate interconnection requirements for the distribution system.
Help troubleshoot operating problems; Provide equipment settings and guidance to quickly resolve voltage problems.
Provide TCC settings and reviews.
Provide technical support to Customer Operations about equipment and operating conditions.
Provide assistance to Operations for emergencies and storms.
Perform feeder patrols as assigned by Operations.
Support scope development of projects for Distribution Asset Management.
Assist as needed in developing line and cable ratings.
Resolve feeder load imbalance.
Assist in auditing the implementation and performance of various strategies.
Respond to customer reliability complaints; meet them at their request.
Initiate reliability blanket work .
Field investigate unknown caused feeder interruptions.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Broad-based knowledge of distribution equipment and industry practices
Can perform circuit protection coordination reviews
Ability to organize large amounts of data and analyze the contents
Knowledge of the contents of the asset register
Skilled at using computer software to mine data and analyze the information
BS in an engineering discipline (EE preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of electric utility or related consulting experience.
EIT and Professional Engineers license desirable.
