Job Description: We have an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, team-minded MECHANICAL GEAR ENGINEERING MANAGER that is technically savvy yet has strong, dynamic customer relation skills. Our ideal candidate may be a current Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Machining Engineer with GEAR experience that possesses the following experience and traits:
· 5-10 years of experience in the industry
· Gearbox failure analysis experience
· Reverse engineering experience
· Gearbox applications experience
· Experience with gear and bearing calculations
· Gear experience including cutting, hobbing, and shaping a PLUS
· Gear and gearbox design experience
· Exp w/ gear calculations & metrology
· Experience with NDT, heat treat, and carburization
· Experience writing manufacturing processes
· Experience preparing parts routers and process instructions
· Experience estimating cost for machined components
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Strong computer skills including MS office and CAD

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Write parts routers and process instructions
· Modify designs of gears and gearboxes for manufacturability
· Maintenance engineering
· Serve as technical liaison between customers and shop personnel
· Reduce scrap and rework through defining processes
· Estimate cost of parts and assemblies
· Utilize understanding of critical manufacturing tolerances to reverse engineer
· Conduct failure analysis and develop technical reports
· Coordinate engineering and manufacturing activities at vendor facilities and other company locations
· Assist in technical training of shop personnel
Requirements include, but are not limited to:

Experience with the following:

· AGMA Standards
· Mechanical Power Transmission *
  • Gear calculations *
  • Gear metrology *
  • Reverse engineering *
  • Machining process *
  • Manufacturing Engineering *
  • Tooling selection *
  • Heat treating and carburization *
  • Gear metrology *
  • Gearbox / Gear Box *
  • At least 5-10 years of experience working within a manufacturing setting performing activities such as Manufacturing or Process Engineering *
  • Highly knowledgeable of critical manufacturing tolerances *
  • Strong written and oral communication skills *
  • Proficient in the use of a computer
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
