Safari Books Online is looking for an Engineering Manager who will lead and advocate for our mid-sized team of developers. You will be a key contributor to the cultural and technological development of Safari by nurturing existing staff and proactively developing the team, while keeping everyone focused on shipping the right thing at the right time. A passion for books, reading, and web-based learning is essential, as is previous “in the trenches” coding experience and empathy for the challenges inherent in software development.
You will report to the VP of Engineering, and work from our offices in the Boston Seaport District.

Develop engineers’ professional development through planning, coaching, and appraisal.
Work with the engineers to nurture good coding standards and practices.
Advocate for the engineering team across the organization.
“Level up” employees through direct coaching, formal mentorships, and training programs.
Organize and operate internal team-building and social events, as well as outward-facing workshops and conference sponsorships.
