DESCRIPTION

SSVEC's Engineering Division is a team of 28 committed individuals tasked with design, technical support and project management for an aggressive portfolio of 30+ projects representing an annual budget of $15m+. This is a significant increase from historic levels of effort and is due primarily to an infusion of $22m in grant funding (with 50-50 cost share for a total program budget of $44m) from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) for Smart Grid project implementation.

DUTIES

  • Become familiar with Engineering Division's current project management methodology including:
oSharePoint 2010 - currently used as primary project progress reporting tool.
oMS Project Schedule - MS Project file containing project task and sub-task definitions, start/finish dates, predecessor relationships among tasks, resource identification, milestones and other project details.
oCurrent Practice - There are currently 15 project managers using a diverse toolset for managing their projects. You will interview each PM and become familiar with their process.
  • Investigate current use of SharePoint 2010 and MS Project software packages
oThese two software packages are platform for the majority of your work.
oFamiliarize yourself with these products and their project management functionality.
  • Develop a project management plan for SSVEC
oEmphasis on the use of templates for basic project management such as meeting agenda, meeting minutes, progress reports to team members, progress reports to stakeholders.
oPresent your recommendations in a clear, concise and professional manner using real-time demonstration of SharePoint and MS Project tools that you have developed.
  • Implement a project management plan
oOnce approved, you are expected to fully implement the new PM toolkit.
oMove data between current SharePoint sub-sites as necessary
oTrain Engineering Division project managers in all aspects of the toolkit. This will require group training as well as one-on-one assistance as needed.
oWork with project managers as a project scheduler.
  • Documentation and Close-out
oDevelop a detailed flow-chart of as-built system work flow
oProvide additional support documentation as necessary in the form of an Operations Manual

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidate would have: direct experience or training in project management, good computer skills including experience with SharePoint 2010 and MS Project 2010; ability to take general assignment and work through details with minimal supervision.
