Location Boulder Overview Gnip, the world°s largest provider of social data, is actively seeking a proven business development executive with experience in the Business Intelligence sector as we continue to expand our offerings to help better serve the growing market demand. Position Description The Engineering Sales Manager (ESM) is responsible for managing the product and technical portions of our sales process with both new and existing customers (upgrades). Success in this role will be primarily measured upon the following: Increase in percent of opportunities won Decrease in time to win opportunities (avg days till close) Improved customer satisfaction around the trial process Improvement in customer satisfaction within the first 90 days of won opportunities due to customers knowledge and effective use of Gnip products Improved customer satisfaction due to creative and expert counsel on how our products can improve our customer ’s business This role will coordinate with Gnip Sales Executives and Account Managers on direct engagement with customers and prospects at predetermined points in Gnip ’s sales process. A significant portion of this engagement will be around owning all facets of the trial process including onboarding, setup, training, consulting, and feedback.

The ESM will work closely with Gnip ’s data science team to understand the value that can be derived from various data sources on a customer-by-customer basis. This role will also work closely with the Gnip product team to define new Gnip trial products and to improve existing trial products. The ESM will spend a significant portion of time managing the sales process remotely from Gnip HQ. However, travel will be required on occasion to help strategic customers and potential Plugged In partners through the onboarding process.

The opportunity may exist to do paid customer engagements after the ESM has refined our customer offerings. Once Gnip ’s sales engineering processes are refined and proven to be effective, the ESM will be responsible for hiring and managing a team of sales engineers. Desired Skills Excellent customer communication skills both written " verbal Proven track record managing customer engagements through complex sales cycles Proven ability to define and carefully refine ongoing sales processes Ability to work well within a team/matrix environment where a customer has multiple points of contact Ability to hire and retain talented individuals Strong technical skills on a variety of platforms to support our diverse customer base. Specific skills include: Deep knowledge of HTTP stack and how applications communicate with each other Previous experience and current skill writing code in various popular languages (Java, Ruby, Python, etc) to integrate with REST APIs Previous experience building simple web applications Previous experience with modern “Big Data ” and search technologies such as Hadoop, Cassandra, and Lucene is preferred Ability to quickly obtain a high-level understanding of a customer ’s technology stack and data processing pipeline Preference will be given to candidates with fluency in additional languages besides English.
