Job Title: Engineering Technician II

Job Duration/Type: Contract-to-Direct Hire

Job Location: South El Monte, California

SUMMARY:

Applies knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical technology to assemble pneumatic and hydraulic valves and filters. Assists in the design, assembly and conducts a variety of tests on systems, sub-assemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to acceptance procedures or to determine cause of unit failure by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Conducts high pressure and cryogenic testing safely

*Working from blueprints, work orders, quality control test manuals, performance specifications, schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used to determine nature of technical problem and possible solutions

*Assembles and tests various valves and filters

*Calibrates test instruments according to specifications

*Analyzes test results related to the design and test objectives, modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications. Records these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data and recommendations for changes in product or test method

*Compares results with specifications and documents test data

*Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure

*Verifies dimensions of mechanical parts using hand-held measuring equipment

*Knowledge of chemical etching (markings), tube bending and how to clean and verify parts and test set-ups

*Ability to operate and maintain equipment such as Instron machines, AstroMed and mass spectrometer

*Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, quality control personnel and others regarding product design, testing procedures and results to resolve problems.

*May, when necessary support Operations Assembly and Test Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Possess interpersonal skills required to build relationships and work in a team environment
*Possess good leadership skills
*Good communication skills both verbal and written

*Ability to use good judgment in decision making and problem solving

*Ability to read and interpret blueprint and schematic drawings

*Proficiency in the use of MS software such as Word, Excel and Outlook

*Basic knowledge of plant operations and processes

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

*Two year certificate from college or technical school; or ten (10) years technical experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

*Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

*Ability to write routine reports and correspondence*Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

*Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

*Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

REASONING ABILITY:

*Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

*Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

*While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of work is performed in a typical production plant, shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper safety training and equipment is provided to employee for the safe performance of required duties.
