With moderate supervision perform and occasionally coordinate laboratory and field documentation activities Work to be done in conjunction with the assessment and repair of existing structures investigation of building and construction problems and construction materials evaluation and testing

1 Perform documentation and field testing of existing structures This activity to include but not be limited to visual surveys test openings chain dragging concrete sampling reinforcing steel locating water spray testing and moisture emission testing
2 Assist engineering staff with laboratory evaluation and testing of construction materials building components and assemblies
3 Perform quality assurance/job progress inspections during repair projects
4 Prepare site visit reports for job file and reports of field and laboratory testing work
5 Assist in preparing final reports under direction of engineer

1 Ability to frequently lift 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally lift 50 to 100 pounds
2 Duties outdoors and away from main office/laboratory location
3 Ability to work from swing stage manlift or scaffolding
4 Personal vehicle available for company business
5 Occasionally work nights weekends and/or out-of-town projects
6 Occasionally work outside during inclement weather

Services provided within the Division are performed to the standards of industry including ASTM ACI ACI as well as State laws governing professional services All services performed in accordance with AETs Quality Assurance Program (QAP) The Engineering Technician will have an instrumental position in developing the expertise and efficiency of the Division including field documentation services The objective is to provide high quality services at a reasonable fee while controlling costs to provide plan margin

1 Perform field and laboratory work and report preparation - expected to consume 80% of the work day
2 Communicate with project manager and engineering staff - expected to consume 10% of the work day
3 Equipment maintenance and clean-up - expected to consume 5% of the day
4 Develop and implement QA/QC procedures for the Division - may account for 5% of the work day

1 Education - High School diploma Post-secondary education preferred
2 Experience in building construction industry preferred
