This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Competency Level: Journey.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Evaluate and apply engineering judgment to plan interpretation; establish positive lines of communication between technicians, engineers, and contractors. Project inspectors must have ability to complete daily dairies; sample cards asphalt report, NPDES reports, material received forms, survey note and monthly estimates. Inspectors must be able to perform a variety of inspection and survey duties for erosion control, material testing, earthwork, asphalt, structures and traffic control. Ability to document findings and to take some corrective actions. Ability to clearly and concisely convey information orally or in working to individual or groups. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to other. Apply safety philosophy and program to all operations. Must be able to work and carry equipment on steep and rough terrain. Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. Safely work high above ground, safely operate a motor vehicle, be proficient in record keeping, and engineering testing equipment. Valid North Carolina Class "C" Driver’s license is required. Safety-toe footwear required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate's degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
