Basic Purpose


The Enterprise Architect (EA) is responsible for setting and socializing the strategy, vision, and roadmap for enterprise technologies (web, application, SOA, middleware, and database) to support US Foods strategy. The EA provides the technical assistance and expertise to ensure successful transitions from architecture concepts to actual project implementations and business capabilities.



  • LOCATION: This position can be based at either our Rosemont, IL or Tempe, AZ corporate support offices.
Develop and communicate strategies, guidelines, standards, and solutions.

Inform business and IT leaders of opportunities and constraints presented by the organization's current and potential architecture and capabilities. Actively manage and communicate the enterprise architecture strategy and techniques via creation and maintenance of architecture blueprints, roadmaps and application portfolio management activities.

Develop/socialize architecture standards and architectural patterns.

Provide consultative services on projects focused on architecture compliance, development and implementation of strategic technological directives.

Mentor and support business and IT staffs; when required, dive deeply into technology issues to address them.

Perform industry research and identify trends.

Develop and maintain relationship with vendors; when needed define and implement proof concepts to evaluate vendor technologies.

Maintain broad based technical and solutions knowledge in software and business architecture areas.

Contribute to the ongoing enhancements and evolution of the Enterprise Architecture team.

Interact with management consulting firms.

Present to diverse audiences.



Required Qualifications:
10+ years experience in an IT role with an understanding and / or development experience in high volume transaction websites or eCommerce platforms using MVC, J2EE.

Prior programming experience using any of the following: J2EE, Spring, JavaScript, JSF, HTML 5 or ADF.

2+ years of experience using Web Content Management and Digital Asset Management platforms.

2+ years of experience developing mobile applications using Adobe PhoneGap, IBM Worklight or Kony Mobile platform.

Prior experience in an IT Solutions Architect or Technical Lead role.

Object Oriented Programming experience.

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree

Prior experience using SOA technologies (e.g., ESB, BPM, BAM WSM, UDDI compliant registry) to deliver SOA or middleware integration projects.

Prior experience directly or indirectly managing staff.

Prior experience using Weblogic and WebCenter.

Prior experience using Salesforce.com.

Prior experience using Oracle WebCenter Site or Adobe CQ 5.

Experience with ERPs, Global Cache platforms (Coherence, Terracotta, ActiveSpaces).

Experience with AGILE methodology.

Prior experience managing application portfolio.

Prior work experience with management consulting firm(s).

Prior experience with user experience definition and design.

Advance level in creating Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and in Excel modeling.

Experience with any of the following Web Services: WSDL, XML, SOAP, UDDI, J2EE, WS-Security.

Prior experience with enterprise architecture planning tools and methodologies (e.g., IDS Aris)
