Job Summary:
The Enterprise Data Architect defines and maintains the enterprise view of business information and the data management strategies necessary to store, move and manage data to support current and future business needs. Facilitates the design and adoption of data architecture standards across the organization. The Enterprise Data Architect will work closely with other enterprise architects, enterprise information management, data services team, data modelers, database administrators and business analysts.

Principle Responsibilities :
Definition and maintenance of enterprise view of business information:

Determine overall modeling standards, guidelines, best practices and approved modeling techniques and approaches
Facilitates the creation of enterprise data architecture standards working closely with other stakeholders such as the data services, development, enterprise information management, database administration and business analysis teams
Oversee the creation of all physical and logical data models in the organization
Advise data modelers in the appropriate data-modeling and database design activities
Work jointly with the data services team in defining enterprise data objects and data models to support data integration and messaging services
Participate in due diligence of new software purchases by reviewing data models contained in packaged or commercially available applications

Definition and maintenance of enterprise data management strategy:

Establish reference architectures for existing data management functions and roadmaps to establish target state capabilities. This includes enterprise data stores for reporting and analytics, data movement, master data management, data quality and metadata management
Participate in the selection and implementation of new enterprise data management technologies and services (data quality, master data management, data profiling)
Identifies the functional / technical risks, assumptions and mitigation alternatives for the data management strategies of proposed projects

Support of Enterprise Information Management:
Establish enterprise data architecture principles and data policies to support the appropriate use of information in business and IT processes
Serve on governing councils for data integration, master data management, enterprise reporting and content management

Collaboration across IT organizations in data related activities :

Ensure that data management methodologies include the steps, activities, and deliverables required to consistently achieve high quality data
Ensure that data management practices include requirements for data quality issue identification, data quality monitoring, data repair, data profiling, data cleansing, data movement, data lineage to consistently achieve high quality data
Support selection and deployment of metadata repositories, data governance and data quality tools

Education : Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology oriented major is a must; an MBA is preferred
Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience as an Information and Data Architect, and at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in database design, metadata management, data governance, master data management, data flow analysis, data modeling, canonical modeling, service oriented architectures, and data warehousing
Technology : Must have experience with data architecture modeling tools (ERStudio) and multiple data stores. Must understand SQL and XML data structures. Must have a proven understanding and experience with ETL tools (Informatica), reporting tools, and data profiling tools
Skills/Abilities : Must have a solid understanding of the basic EA concepts and EA theory, and an expertise in data architecture. Candidate needs the ability to lead enterprise data modeling projects. Candidate must be able to influence others, demonstrate leadership skills, and work as part of a team. Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be able to facilitate and work collaboratively on analysis and design, and must be able to instructed and mentor others
Industry : 7 years experience within the investment and mutual fund management industry, broad knowledge of securities & products, counterparties, positions, and transactions data
