Serve as the focal point for the Product Quality Engineering organization’s technical support for designated Product Line of Hard Disk Drives. Manages, coordinates, and drives activities related to problem definition, containment of problem, and execution of corrective actions. Actively engage and partner with various cross-functional engineering teams to implement improvements that mitigate field warranty returns on Hard Disk Drives from the development to production phases. Must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed in a collaborative peer environment. Must have strong analytical skills, dealing with large amounts of complex data. Must possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as focal contact for quality related issues and concerns for the assigned product swim lane.
Monitor quality data for warranty returns.
Responsible for undertaking of extensive data analysis / mining to identify areas of opportunity to drive improvements.
Present analysis effectively to key stakeholders to get buy-in and drive initiatives for improvement.
Responsible for developing and managing the necessary actions to drive improvements.
Must be familiar with quality tool kit to drive analysis - ex. Fault Tree, FMEA, 8D Methodology, Statistics, Design of Experiments, etc
Drive generational Product Quality Improvements into new programs.
Lead the Failure Analysis initiatives for assigned product(s) to ensure that a representative sample of the top warranty detractors are captured for failure analysis as driven to root cause so that corrective actions may be formulated and implemented.
Provide continuous feedback on product quality to the program teams.
Participate in developing strategies for improved quality.
Support and execute departmental tasks as assigned by management.

Bachelor’s Degree in pertinent Engineering discipline with 10-15 years related experience or Master’s Degree with 8-10 yrs. related experience or a PHD with 6-8 yrs. related experience
Experience in quality applications, manufacturing, failure analysis and statistical applications.
Knowledge of electro-static discharge prevention policy and procedures.
Knowledge of 3.5” and 2.5” Hard Disk Drives used in the Enterprise, Computational, Cloud and related market segments.
Advanced knowledge of manufacturing techniques and related hardware/software; statistical sampling and analysis, quality applications, as well as the use of both standard and specialized tools and equipment used in the job.
Good understanding of the practical implications of this role on operations.
Has broad knowledge of general business operations.
Able to formulate both individual and project goals.
Extensive Program Management experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve critical issues and situations.
Must be able to take on projects from inception to completion.
