The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will oversee all site safety, health and environmental programs for the RB R&D facility located in Montvale, NJ. This position will lead and drive the site’s Safety Culture through the development of programs and policies to ensure compliance with safety goals and government regulations by providing professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of Environmental, Health and Safety programs. Under minimal supervision, the EH&S Manager will be responsible for all technical and logistic work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with Health & Safety standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements. This position will coordinate and lead EHS programs locally and ensure full alignment with RB Global EHS and R&D standards.

Principal duties and responsibilities will include;

Develop and lead the implementation of safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Set standards to which others will be held responsible and accountable. Maintain procedures to keep current.

Oversee site waste management (inventory/disposal) program and ensure it is in full compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements

Develop training materials to support environmental, safety and health programs. Promote employee awareness of environment, health and safety through training and continual facility wide communication.

Develop and implement proactive environment, health and safety programs. Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S Performance Measurement Programs (i.e., audits, metrics), tracking and reporting progress; report metrics to Global EHS on monthly basis

Create and facilitate EH&S teams and/or committees as needed to meet safety objectives. Provide expert technical assistance to the site and share best practices with other RB EHS Managers/Coordinators at other sites. Participate and represent RB in internal and external working groups, committees and conferences having to do with EH&S. Build effective relationships with the corporate EH&S network to ensure consistency of systems.

Provide monthly updates to R&D Lead Team and present quarterly updates/training at site-wide Town Hall meetings.

Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to health, environmental and safety standards. Interface with regulatory agencies and assist during regulatory inspections. Keep apprised of development in federal, state and local safety and environmental laws.

Develop and manage accident and injury investigation program. Work with Human Resources in managing workers compensation program and costs. Review and interpret data from accident and loss event reports and other appropriate sources to identify causes, trends and relationships. Initiate investigations when appropriate. Establish target areas and long range accident risk reduction and cost control objectives.

Qualifications

:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies/Safety (preferred) or related discipline

Prior experience (minimum five years) as an environmental/safety professional or similar background is preferred.

Must have project management experience.

Excellent IT/Computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Membership of a relevant professional body, ideally with a formal continuous professional development requirement.

Strong leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills

Effective communication skills and the ability to provide feedback to team members with the goal of attaining common understanding, trust and co-operation

Strong interpersonal skills to nurture teamwork and foster an environment of achievement and motivation

Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility regarding changing priorities
