JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is located near the Naval Support Activity Crane working with the Crane Division, Naval

Surface Warfare Center (NSWC Crane) Environmental Protection Office to support the Air Compliance and Management Program and other environmental tasking related to Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Tasking includes a broad range of environmental regulation knowledge and compliance oversight activities, which may include evaluating federal, state and DOD environmental regulations, meeting with customers, governmental personnel and other project personnel during meetings to determine compliance requirements, permit actions, emissions estimates, and source reviews; coordinating Environmental Management System (EMS) reviews with other subject matter experts to determine environmental compliance requirements, assess compliance, and document compliance status.
The candidate must: have the knowledge and experience to be able to work on problems of diverse scope and exercise independent judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions; making decisions that may have a direct effect on project schedules; interact daily with customers and peer staff members; and able to handle unusual and seldom occurring job events with minimal assistance. Position will also require support with internal SAIC local operations, facilities and other projects with environmental compliance needs/actions. Candidate may also be required to attend conferences, training or other task-related opportunities to network with potential customers (DoD and non-DoD) and present SAIC capabilities. Overall Environmental Compliance and environmental project management experience will enable the successful candidate to accurately assess and manage diverse environmental projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or other technical field, and at least 4 years of related experience. The candidate will have knowledge of Air Compliance regulations; Experience in permit application preparation is an asset. Experience in Environmental Management Systems and multimedia reviews is an asset; Must possess good oral and written communications skills and be familiar with PC Microsoft applications. Position requires good organizational skills, attention to detail and good time management ability. Must be able to work in a busy, fast-paced environment and meet short suspense actions from Government customer and internal SAIC timelines.

Must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

DESIRED SKILLS: Previous experience with other environmental programs (i.e., RCRA, CWA, CAA, SPCC) will also be favorably considered. Previous experience with Department of Defense and/or Department of Navy activities will be beneficial.
