Danville Health Department, Danville, VA is recruiting an Environmental Health Specialist position. This position enforces laws/regulations governing environmental health programs in Danville. Inspects restaurants and other establishments to ensure sanitary conditions and to assure compliance with regulations; investigates & provides education on animal exposure incidents; investigates complaints; enforces other programs as designated.
Minimum Qualifications
Basic knowledge, skills and abilities in microbiology, and chemistry as it relates to food safety and sanitation; working knowledge of epidemiology and communicable disease transmissions; environmental health principles. Ability to interpret, regulate and enforce state and local environmental health rules and regulations. Must be a team player committed to the best quality customer service. Ability to educate the public and determine compliance with other environmental health programs. Good communication skills. Good computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer BS/BA in Environmental Health, natural science or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Those who meet the criteria may be hired as an Environmental Health Specialist Sr.
Special Requirements
Must be able to provide own transportation. Successful candidate will be sugject to a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
