The Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for:
Driving safety in the plant
Leading safety committees
Performing monthly safety audits
Daily, weekly, and monthly safety reporting through MLO systems
Driving safe start program
Managing Worker's compensation claims
Maintaining OSHA logs
Managing FMLA claims
Managing monthly health/safety program (biometric screening, health assessments, local health fair, audiometric testing, and other related initiatives).
Safety related Root Cause Analysis
Develop and implement a wellness plan
Monthly safety training in plant meetings
Manages the day-to-day operation of the plant safety.
Appropriately treating minor and major injuries occurring on the job, referring to appropriate medical personnel when treatment beyond first aid is needed.
Case management of workers Compensation injuries, working with the treating physician in return-to-work issues, assisting with scheduling diagnostic testing & return to work limitations, MMI & PPIR. Also working with attorneys to help close cases & meet all needs of the injured associate.
Developing, implementing, and coordinating programs to achieve Health and Safety goals.
Uses ability to make decisions regarding emergency care, work related injuries, and return to work status, without constant supervision and within the guidelines of Company policy and medical protocol.
Must be sensitive and able to communicate effectively with associates who have varying levels of understanding of health and medical procedures and varying ability to understand and communicate their health issues.
Achieve stated safety goals.
Conduct proactive, action based programs to reduce or eliminate work related accidents or injuries.
Train and develop first line supervisors to effectively lead safety awareness in their departments to improve our safety performance Lead Safety teams and other cross functional teams to realize the move to an Engaged workforce.
What do I need to be considered a candidate?
BS degree in Safety/Health and Wellness or similar discipline that would be considered relevant to this position (i.e. Nursing)
Minimum three years of manufacturing safety experience.
Knowledgable about GA Workers Compensation and federal OSHA regulations and reporting requirements and personal physical protection and programs.
Knowledgeable about ADA physical requirements and FMLA.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with a diverse group of associates, management, medical personnel, and insurance representatives in groups and individually.
Effective written and communication skills.
Strong ability to relate to people.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Record data, prepare reports and charts, and type memos and reports.
Ability to maintain associate medical files and perform other administrative tasks associated with a plant safety/personnel function.
Ability to make decisions that apply to the position (examples: injury treatment, return to work status)
Ability to work across multi-facilities a must (100 mile radius).
Ability to make common-sense and medically-sound decisions regarding emergency care, work related injuries, and return to work status, without constant supervision and within the guidelines of Company policy and medical protocol.
Communicating verbal information accurately and timely, responding to requests for information and material in a timely manner, and coordinating processing of incoming and outgoing written information.
