AECOM has an opening for a Mid Level Scientist in our San Antonio, TX office with task management experience for government and commercial projects specifically including Department of Defense (DOD) chemical and munitions remediation programs. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing data in both the field and office settings. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, sediment, air, and soil vapor sample collection, oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies, and operation of groundwater extraction and treatment systems. The office activities will involve preparation of CERCLA, MMRP,or RCRA documents, selection and design of appropriate in-situ and ex-situ remedial technologies for soil and groundwater remediation, and or investigation and remediation of munitions sites. The ideal candidate will successfully demonstrate achievement, proficiency, and progressive responsibility in the following areas:
· Task and/or Project Management Experience for Performance Based Contracts;
· Must have demonstrated a primary technical role in multiple site characterization, remedial design and remediation projects at DOD sites;
· Collecting and evaluating environmental data in field and office settings;
· Preparing design and O&M reports and drawings;
· Strong CERCLA or RCRA technical report writing skills;
· Independent field work and leadership of field teams;
· Contractor oversight; and,
· Developing cost estimates associated with field related activities and remediation technologies.
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree as well as 7 to 10 years of experience in environmental consulting. All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. OSHA 40-hr training required. Demonstration of knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: DOD sites; EPA environmental regulations; in-situ and ex-situ groundwater remediation; contractor management and project management. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background; excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective organizational skills; proficiency in MS Office; time management skills; flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects; and an eagerness to acquire new skills and meet new challenges. Ability to lead technical staff, and provide a quality, consistent product to the client are essential qualifications. Must be familiar with various soil/groundwater remediation technologies, and have a background in chlorinated solvent contaminated sites assessment and remediation, groundwater treatment plant operation and maintenance and data evaluation. Must have ability to effectively communicate technical issues to clients and mentor staff in execution of field programs and report preparation. The candidate must be willing to travel to various job sites within the US.
