Job Description:
The Central Coast Environmental Division of URS is actively seeking a highly creative and multi-talented Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Santa Barbara office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in GIS analysis, cartography, and geospatial data management. Candidate will also need to have a broad-based understanding of engineering and environmental science.

URS is proud to provide our employees with the opportunity to work on a wide variety of exciting, challenging projects. As a member of the GIS team, you can look forward to having responsibility for projects involving resource management and NEPA analysis; cultural investigations; technical GIS support to siting studies, impact analyses, and subsurface investigations; web and mobile GIS/GPS solutions and applications; and geospatial data management using ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of products on a wide variety of environmental and engineering projects.

If you thrive on using your diverse collection of skills on a daily basis, URS may be the place for you to shine. In any given day or week, you may be called upon to work inside or outside of the office setting where you will: make maps and interpret aerial surveys; provide assistance with optimizing siting plans for renewable energy projects; define and/or evaluate borders for wetland delineation, flora location, and fauna migratory patterns/routes as part of an environmental impact statement or report; analyze shoreline erosion patterns; and perform on-site GPS mapping in rugged and/or remote terrain. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills will be an asset as you ultimately provide written support and documentation for your analysis of any of the above tasks.
