Overview

Encana is seeking an Environmental Technician to work in the SRBU EH&S Team based in Parachute, CO. This role will support the environmental compliance programs for the Piceance Basin including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance, Annual Regulatory Compliance (ARC) inspection program, Waste Management, Water Quality, and Spill Response and Remediation. This position will report to an Environmental Lead and provide office and field support to the team of Field Coordinators overseeing these programs.

Responsibilities

Administrative and data management support for environmental compliance programs including SPCC and site annual regulatory compliance (ARC) programs
Revise/update electronic site diagrams (Visio software program)
Support/participate in field inspection programs.
Ensure compliance in regards to waste management program by preparing/tracking manifests and entering manifest data
Support coordinating meetings with outside regulatory agencies and Encana personnel
Support for regulatory reporting/data submittals as well as regulatory inspection review and tracking corrective actions using Incident Management System (IMS)
Support of field investigation and sampling activities (sample scheduling and collection, data entry/tracking, laboratory data review, entry, and QA/QC)
Provide Microsoft Access data entry support to Weed Specialist, engage in Encana's pest/pesticide reportingand cost tracking processes
Ability to initiate communication with weed specialist when questions or concerns arise including maintaining communication on data entry progress for timely generation of weed-related reports
Approve invoices for Weed Treatments and Surface Management Activities
Ability to maintain a solution-focused, continual improvement attitude

Qualifications

College coursework or Associates degree in environmental science or technology related field preferred
3-5 years work experience supporting environmental compliance programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Visio software packages
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be very detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills
Ability to self manage and support overall team objectives
Database development and management expertise utilizing Microsoft Access a plus
3-5 years work experience in soil and water sampling a plus
24 Hazwoper Training a plus
Ability to satisfy Department of Justice requirements with or without assistance from Encana.
Lean Six Sigma experience preferred
