This position is located in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Division of Surveillance, Hazard Evaluations and Field Studies (DSHEFS), Cincinnati, OH.

The incumbent will have responsibility for providing technical consultation and assistance to Federal, State, local and other health agencies concerning various complex epidemiology projects. Identifies and analyzes public health issues and their impact on public policies or scientific studies or surveys. Participates with scientists and program consultants both in various aspects of the study or survey design, process, including conducts a search or review of the existing literature and data in a scientific area, and prepares and/or presents summaries for a variety of purposes, monitors internal review board clearances, designs questionnaires and other data collection instruments. Plans and carries out quality control programs and selects appropriate epidemiological methods to be used in quality control analysis. Develops and coordinates the sharing of health-releated educational or informational materials so that scientific advice and assistance is shared. Prepares comprehensive reports of national surveillance system analyses which include discussion of substantive health issues and research objectives. Presents results to the scientific community at professional meetings and conferences. Serves as technical expert with respect to all phases of statistical interpretation relating to epidemiologic topics under consideration. Performs other duties as assigned.

All applicants must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study at an accredited colledge or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, to include experience in designing, overseeing, implementing and/or conducting epidemiological studies related to pupblic health.
Since this position has a specific education requirement, you must submit a copy of your college transcripts or acceptable alternative as indicated on Required Documents. If selected, you will be required to submit an original official transcripts before being appointed.
