PURPOSE Work closely with global clients and other functional groups by providing scientific leadership for observational research on the natural history of disease and comparative safety and effectiveness of medical treatment. Design methodologically sound studies to meet project objectives and regulatory requirements. Conduct and supervise analyses, evaluation and reporting of studies. RESPONSIBILITIES Develops study concepts and protocols, and leads the analyses and reporting, in additional to other consultative activities Creates concepts and protocols for observational studies of comparative effectiveness and safety, and other outcomes research Analyzes (or guide the analysis) and writes final study reports, abstracts, and manuscript Develops, maintains and manages internal and selected external resource networks Collaborates with colleagues in scientific affairs, business development, project management, data management and other areas to ensure high quality content in study proposals, protocols, analysis plans, study reports, abstracts and publications, and other documents Serves as a resource to guide study implementation Use clear, concise language REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Sound methodological training and an interest in designing, conducting and analyzing studies that require data collection, including direct collection from health care providers and patients, and chart reviews Demonstrated ability to recommend plans for research design Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects Ability to provide and accept direction of lead team members Ability to solve moderately complex problems Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
