Operates a wide variety of heavy construction equipment for assigned department.
Inspects equipment before usage to ensure safe and proper operation.
Operates and maintains construction and other heavy equipment.
Assists in loading and unloading trucks.
Performs traffic control duties as assigned.
Operates trucks with attachments and various portable equipment.
Performs a variety of manual labor as assigned.
Performs basic preventative maintenance service to equipment and trucks as needed.
Checks equipment for operational readiness, service and repair.
Assists mechanics in making repairs to machines and equipment as needed.
Completes necessary paperwork.
Utilizes a variety of hand tools.
Cuts out and removes deteriorated asphalt with jackhammer and shovel.
Assists with supervision and training of lower level staff.
Excavates ditches while observing proper safety precautions.
Spreads and compacts asphalt using vibratory plate of roller.
Performs duties as assigned by supervisor.
Three years of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment, two years of which must have been in the operation of off-road equipment, or a related field. Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) classified/endorsed at the appropriate level for equipment being operated. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
