POSITION SUMMARY: Briefly describe what the position was created to accomplish.
Learns to operate various reproduction equipment; including Xerox 550/560, Xerox 800/1000, Xerox IGEN-4, Xerox D-110. Learns to operator various Finishing equipment; including cutter, stitcher, Jogger, HiCap Folder, Pitney Bowes Folder, Pitney Bowes Meter, and Pitney Bowes Inserter. Major activities are rotated on a regular basis among employees.
REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS : (will use a set statement and have the manager fill in titles)
Reports directly to the Team Leader, Mail & Print Services from whom overall work direction is received. May receive direction from the Director, Technology/Operations
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List in order of importance, describe what must be accomplished, not how it must be done and quality/quantity standards.
Sets up and operates the Computer Output Mailing System (COMS) with limited assistance. Ensures proper inserts and carrier are used. Sets up equipment for computer-generated documents (critical business documents; e.g., premium notices and checks), select-feed, match/merge, zip code identification, and check signing functions. Maintains accurate counts of documents run.
Sets up and operates all Xerox Printers; reads and interprets specifications, work orders, or network printing specifications, scan original artwork, including halftones, and makes critical adjustments as needed.
Sets up and operates various other post processing equipment, including Challenger 370 guillotine cutter, Challenger hole punch, collator/booklet finisher, stitcher, shrink wrap, etc.
Performs miscellaneous duties, hand-stuffing mail, operating folder and automatic slitter.
Learns to use Mail Data station for tracking all lines of business when operating equipment.
Stock supplies for the area and providing assistance for coworkers when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
General knowledge of printing/copying environment helpful, but not required.
Knowledge / Skills:
Requires good reading ability and comprehension.
In-depth knowledge of automated printing/publishing methods to be acquired.
Must be able to effectively utilize Computer Output Mailing System and other Mail Room equipment required for essential job functions.
Must meet time schedules and deadlines, which may involve overtime.
Must be accurate, as errors in sorting and applying postage could cause a total mailing to be rejected by USPS, returned for correction, and delay the critical mail process.
Ablity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality. Requires sensitivity to material being printed and mailed.
Required learning time is approximately six to twelve months.
