Position: ESOL/ Computer Teacher (Part-Time) Supervisor: Program Director
Overview: The Adult Literacy Program provides ESOL and Technology classes to immigrant adults in New York City. University Settlement provides a comprehensive network of services to over 10,000 people of all ages living in the Lower East Side. Its broad network of activities includes adult literacy classes, mental health counseling and intensive case management; group and family day care; support services to the formerly homeless; after-school and summer camp for children and teens; a senior center and a credit union.
Responsibilities: • Teach students how to use cutting edge IBM software for ESOL students • Teach Microsoft Word and Internet usage to students • Teach up to four classes per week • Attend workshops as required by the program • Track progress of student achievement • Monitor and teach ESOL/Technology classes • Complete assessments and tests as required by the program • Maintain attendance and performance records for students • Complete other relevant projects as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications: • Bachelors Degree required (TESOL, English or related field), additional certification a plus • Three years’ experience teaching ESOL
Hours: 17 hours per week, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00a to 1:00p and Saturday 9:30a-4:30p
