Evening Supervisor Position Summary: This is a supervisory position with direct service responsibilities in the Residential/Shelter component of Haven House.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
  • To provide supervisory oversight during evening and week-end shifts;
  • To assess problematic situations with residents or staff and engage in conflict resolution and/or bring them to the attention of the program coordinator;
  • Provide coverage for the crisis telephone hotline;
  • Maintain up-to-date case files and progress notes, as well as a small caseload.
  • Maintain necessary records, statistical information, activity sheets, documentation, logs that are pertinent to the position and to the program to ensure the flow of communication;
  • Engage in case conferences and case reviews;
  • nitiate and engage in creative programming, particularly during evening hours, to benefit shelter residents and staff;
  • Meet the primary needs of residents during an assigned shift (i.e., token distribution, supplies, etc.);
  • Engage in community presentations, if necessary;
  • Provide legal and social services advocacy for shelter residents;
  • Perform other related duties deemed necessary by program coordinator;
  • Conduct House meetings on a regularly scheduled basis;
  • Serve on ad-hoc or special committees on behalf of the agency;
  • Provide supervisory oversight for all on-call personnel.
  • Models and practices sensitivity, fair treatment and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interactions
  • Must maintain and submit all of the required documents and comply with all aspects of the Vehicle Safety and Usage Policy.
  • Participates and contributes to program Quality Improvement process.
      Minimum Requirements:
    • ossess a valid NYS Driver's License;
    • Be able to function as a member of a team;
    • Work within a busy, fast-paced office setting;
    • Abide by a smoke-free work environment;
    • Be able to access a multi-level building;
    • Possess a Bachelor or Master of Social Work degree (BSW/MSW), a related degree may be accepted in some instances; prior supervisory experience is required;
    • Promote the empowerment of women as defined by the Social Work profession and Battered Women's Movement, adhering to the principles of non-violence and independent decision making;
    • Must be available to work evening and some week-end shifts;
    • Must be available in order to provide after hours program coverage on a rotating basis.
        Desired Qualifications:
      • Bi-lingual skills (specifically English/Spanish),
      • Prior domestic violence experience,
      • CPR or nursing skills,
      • Experiences with mental health/substance abuse clinical issues.
          Essential Physical Requirements:
        • Frequently move about inside and outside the office in reaction to situations and duties.
        • Frequently communicate accurate information with coworkers, clients and children who will use the agency services.
        • Frequently operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer and phone system.
        • Must be able to access multi-level buildings and travel to sites within the community.
            Essential Mental Requirements:
          • Frequently move about inside and outside the office in reaction to situations and duties.
          • Frequently communicate accurate information with coworkers, clients and children who will use the agency services.
          • Frequently operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer and phone system.
          • Must be able to access multi-level buildings and travel to sites within the community.
              Equipment Used:
            • Computer Usage: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, telephone, fax machine and copier, company vehicle, Security and Fire Alarm System
                Environmental/Working Conditions:
              • Multi-level building, some travel possible, Full-time position is 35 hours per week; Tuesday through Friday 3 : 00PM-11:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 AM-4:00PM flexibility is required, especially to meet the needs of the 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift
