Under limited supervision, performs technical and coordinating work to collect, preserve, transport, and process evidence associated with crimes under investigation by the City Police Department. Work involves preparation of statistics and reports, ordering equipment, and training new employees in crime scene processing. Interacts with investigators, line supervisors, and other law enforcement agencies and the general public. Provides supervision and guidance to assigned personnel.
Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Chemistry, or related field with a m inimum of three to five years of experience as a crime scene technician with specific experience in forensics and fingerprint examination and knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
Prefer a graduate of the Virginia Forensic Academy and a Certified Fingerprint examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
