Exceptional Family Member Liaisons provide thorough and effective information and referral on the Exceptional Family Member program. The EFM Liaison’s primary responsibilities consist of:
Providing one-on-one consultation, information and referral, classroom training, workshops and seminars in support of the education and training component of the program.
Serving as a timely and effective liaison to active or reserve component sailors and their family members who are enrolled or eligible for enrollment in the Exceptional Family Member Program.
Linking affected personnel and families with appropriate military and civilian support organizations, to include Military Treatment Facility EFM Coordinators, and School Liaison Officers.
Developing and providing EFMP education and marketing, to include providing command briefings, writing articles and using multi-media publications/communication methods to conduct outreach and to stress the importance of EFM enrollment.
Tracking EFMP contacts and services in FFSMIS.
Maintaining database with local military and civilian resources, to include state and federal resources.
Assisting families with completion of EFM enrollment paperwork and coordinate with MTF EFM Coordinators to facilitate enrollment process.
Providing correct information and make EFM specific referrals for educational, recreational and cultural activities.
Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of a degree in education/ social/behavioral sciences coupled with experience providing adult educational services or military work/family life consultation; OR a High School diploma coupled with 2+ years experience providing adult educational services or military work/family life consultation.
Experience developing presentations and facilitating training for large and small groups.
Personal and/or professional military lifestyle experience.
Experience with military and community support resources.
Experience with Microsoft Office software
Experience with the Navy’s EFM program.
Experience with services and programs available to families with special needs member.
Knowledge of the tenets of adult education and the development of training curricula based on adult learning model.
Experience conducting program evaluations to improve program effectiveness
All positions which require access to U.S. Government facilities and systems require U.S. Citizenship, a valid driver’s license, transportation, and auto insurance.
