This position will provide administrative support for the School of Medicine Vice Dean for Education. The Vice Dean is responsible for the curriculum and programs for medical students, including student admissions, assessments, meeting accreditation standards and oversight of student affairs. The Vice Dean also contributes to the direction of Graduate Medical Education at UNC Hospitals. This position must be knowledgeable of all of the contacts and activities that the Vice Dean is involved with in order to effectively and efficiently manage administrative tasks that range from calendar management to meeting preparation to oversight and planning of conferences and presentations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Due to the nature of working with and supporting the School of Medicine Vice Dean for Education and their endeavors at multiple levels, candidates must be able to maintain confidentiality, the highest standards of discretion, and the ability to maintain trust. Must be highly detailed-oriented and possess thorough follow-up skills. Effective problem solving capabilities, the ability to work independently, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position. Additionally, candidates must have a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines without comprising the quality of the project or negatively impacting the customer service experience of those interfacing with the office. Candidate must also have the ability to multi-task while remaining flexible and organized.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer candidates that have experience handling a large volume of email correspondence with responsibility for a complex calendar. Prefer candidates that have had previous experience managing and planning events with a high degree of independence after receiving initial instruction. Prefer candidates that can utilize their skills to handle reimbursement processes, and maintain meticulous records for audit purposes. Preferred candidates will possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
