Provides executive administrative support for the Vice President Power Delivery and supports other executives and executive assistants as required from time to time. This incumbent will exercise independent judgment and discretion while managing assignments that support the VP’s business operations. Principal duties include: managing special projects; managing calendars and schedules; coordinating meetings and managing meeting conflicts; answering and directing calls and correspondence; maintaining accurate databases of contacts and department executive records; reviewing information to bring important points to the timely attention of appropriate individuals; responding to requests or queries from employees, customers, vendors, and other executives; making workable travel arrangements, coordinating itineraries; and otherwise relieving executive of clerical and administrative details. Other responsibilities include: preparing grammatically correct and error-free documents, including complex PowerPoint presentations and basic spreadsheets and correspondence. Must present a pleasant, welcoming and professional demeanor and presence at all times. Strict confidentiality and discretion is required.
Other responsibilities include greeting and hosting guests, and on occasion, arranging for drinks and meals for meeting guests. Other professional duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent, and five years of administrative support for executive or senior level management. Must have an exemplary work record including excellent attendance.

Organization and strong communication skills are paramount. Must be able to exercise tact and diplomacy, and demonstrate both strict professionalism as well as personal warmth. Must demonstrate a positive attitude about profession, Westar and its industry and service. High emotional IQ. Must be a self-starter able to use common sense and good judgment to work effectively, cooperatively, discretely and efficiently, often with limited guidance and instruction. Knowledge of Westar’s company structure, Westar’s business, and inter-company operations is a plus, as is general business knowledge and knowledge of utility business terminology. Must be able to work effectively under pressure of deadlines and high quality standards and must be able to exercise good judgment in effectively managing changing priorities and resolving conflict. Must be able to process and present information in an organized, timely, and accurate manner through clear verbal and written communications. Must display strong grammar, editing and proofreading skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and process, and on occasion produce and collate voluminous materials quickly and accurately. Must be able to work effectively as a member of formal and informal teams. Proficiency required in Microsoft Office Professional, including advanced PowerPoint skills, strong MS Word skills and the ability to produce basic Excel spreadsheets. Must be able to effectively use the internet for research. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, database skills and basic accounting is preferred. Basic knowledge of budgeting, expense accounts, copying services, and office supplies is required.
License, Certification, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Valid driver’s license.
