The Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC) seeks to hire an articulate, self-assured and highly-efficient Executive Assistant to support ELPC’s President/Executive Director in multiple ways, assist him in coordinating and scheduling meetings with internal and external constituencies – including political, business, civic and environmental leaders, media, ELPC’s board and ELPC’s staff – and to help the Executive Director advance the organization.

ELPC is the Midwest’s leading public interest environmental legal advocacy and eco-business innovation organization, and among the nation’s leaders. We develop and lead successful strategic environmental advocacy campaigns to improve environmental quality and protect our natural heritage. We are public interest environmental entrepreneurs who engage in creative business deal making with diverse interests to put into practice our belief that environmental progress and economic development can be achieved together. ELPC’s multidisciplinary staff of 46 talented public interest attorneys, environmental business specialists, policy advocates and communications specialists brings a strong and effective combination of skills to solve environmental problems and improve the quality of life in our communities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with ELPC’s Executive Director to schedule and broker relationships with an extensive list of external constituencies/colleagues as well as ELPC’s staff and Board; draft short memos, correspondence and occasional research; coordinate often complex travel arrangements and speaking engagements; and help organize special events and ELPC staff, Board and Advisory Council meetings. This position works closely with ELPC’s Communications and Development teams to coordinate program strategies, meetings and events. Additional administrative and operations tasks, as well as special project assignments.

Mandatory Job Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: A proven track record working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment possessing the ability to think strategically as well as an attention to detail. This person must be a strong interpersonal communicator. They must be intellectually curious and interested in the organization’s work, possess strong writing skills, be hard-working with an ability to multi-task and prioritize work under tight deadlines. In short, ELPC is looking to hire a smart, poised, discreet Executive Assistant who can be an ambassador for the organization senior-level political, business, civic, environmental and media leaders. A bachelors’ degree and at least 3 years of work experience are required.
