The ideal candidate must have:
  • Excellent culinary and direct supervision / management skills, including purchasing, creative menu + production recipe development, control / track food & labor costs, P&L accountability + contract-managed service experience;
  • A minimum 5 yrs of progressively responsible experience within a convention center, arena, stadium or other public venue;
  • A proven track record of developing effective management teams by providing clear direction, demonstrating leadership and evaluating performance in order to make recommendations for improvement;
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision;
  • The ability to manage effectively in a diverse, fast-paced environment with focus on delivering highest level of customer satisfaction;
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and interpersonal skills;
  • Familiarity with inventory cost control and menu planning;
  • Ability to communicate with employees, vendors, client representatives and guests in a positive and professional manner;
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills and professional presentation;
  • Must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which to evenings and weekends;
  • Specialized training or certification in food service sanitation is a plus!

Ovations Food Services, LP, an affiliate of Comcast-Spectacor, is currently seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced EXECUTIVE CHEF to assist with the oversight of our contract food service operations at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC. The Catering Manager provides support and assistance with Catering and Concession activities. The Catering Manager will independently initiate and authorize all employment actions such as hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion and transfer. The Catering Manager will actively and independently manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant and cooperative work environment.
The Executive Chef will coordinate all culinary activities and develop/manage kitchen staff for this high-volume property. Successful candidate must have excellent culinary and direct supervision / management skills, including purchasing, creative menu + production recipe development, control / track food & labor costs + contract-managed service experience. Successful candidate must have strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills, professional presentation, able to work independently in a team environment. Minimum 2-3 yrs high-volume hotel, convention center or other public venue banquet / catering experience preferred. Professional certification a plus. Excellent attendance with the ability to work a variable event-driven schedule including many nights, weekends and holidays and the ability to manage effectively in a diverse, fast-paced environment w/ focus on delivering highest level of customer satisfaction is essential.
