We have an Executive Chef position available at an independent boarding school (7 day operation) in the Charlottesville VA area.

The Executive Chef at this location should have strong culinary skills, management experience AND catering/some event planner type skills.

The Executive Chef must have a passion for people and food. The Candidate will have a CAN DO!! attitude, strong communication skills, high energy and enthusiasm. The best candidate will enjoy current food trends, and have nutritional and wellness awareness as well as extensive food production experience. In addition, the ideal employee will have great skills: people, planning, organizational, computer, and customer service.

Job responsibilities:

-managing the culinary team

-demonstrate exemplary customer service skills

-recruit and train the hourly team

-create menus with the Director

-implement and maintain HACCP standards

-develop client and customer relationships

-deliver fabulous catering results

-at least 2 years of prior management experience, educational setting preferred but not required

SAGE's chefs and culinary teams are talented individuals who know how to prepare a great meal! Menus are individually written to reflect local and regional foods, flavors and culinary style. The culinary team at your unit will execute your menu with healthful menu writing, recipe development and cooking methods. At SAGE, the skills and expertise of our chefs are what make every dining experience truly unique. There are no company recipes or set menus. We encourage all our chefs to use their culinary talent to write menus. Our chefs start with fresh ingredients and prepare meals from scratch.

This position is all about imagination, creativity, and demonstrating a strong work ethic. We would like to find an assistant director who understands what it means to add a little WOW to the program.
