H C Smith Ltd is pleased to represent Interlochen Center for the Arts in a search for a creative, highly energetic, dynamic leader for its extensive and diverse year-round Interlochen Presents! series. Interlochen Presents has become one of the largest presenters in the Midwest, offering more than 500 student and processional performances and exhibitions and bringing over 150 guest artists and artists in residence to the Interlochen campus each year. Reporting to the President of Interlochen Center for the Arts, the Executive Director oversees all aspects of the institution's multi-dimensional performance series in two distinct seasons, and manages a revenue of around $2 million. The selected candidate must be both a visionary who can develop and promote a diverse range of programs appealing to a regional and national audiencem and a talented and skilled manager who can gracefully handle the complex details of managing a large team, presenting hundreds of programs annually, and collaborating with artists, faculty, and students in the daily operation of this division, including activities at all eight venues. - Bachelor's and/or master's degree in music or arts management and five to seven years increasing management experience in an arts presentations setting
- Informed national perspective on the business of festivals and presenters; keen sense on what is working for classical, jazz, chamber, popular, and family arts events;
- Natural leader and team builder capable of developing motivating a talented staff, helping them to exceed expectations while juggling many competing demands
