This position provides leadership and management of business operations in the physician practices. It is responsible for the highest quality patient services delivered by the organizations with obtainable resources, while ensuring a cost effective operation. This position ensures that high quality patient service is delivered by providers and staff, ensures and monitors that processes are safe and compliant and establishes a problem clarification and resolution system. This position has oversight of quality improvement, data management feedback, ,continuing education of all business processes effecting patient flow, service access, referral and documentation and communication of care. Acts as project manager for incoming and outgoing referral processes, patient access, workflow and customer service, including scheduling and registration processes. Acts as liaison to Director of Information Technology Services regarding electronic health record management. Accountable for the quality of care and the financial performance within the physician practices. Together with the CEO initiates, proposes and facilitates strategy to optimize patient care and net operating income. Leads and directs Practice Managers who oversee day to day operations of physician practices. Develops and maintains strategic and implementation plans to include, but not limited to ,five year strategic goals and objectives. Integrate and coordinate planning efforts with all appropriate management staff. Monitor external environment for new programs and evaluates competitors to create opportunities. Leads and manages start up operations for new practices and establishes policies and procedures for new operations. Manages staff efforts and assists operational management to design effective processes to develop strategies ensuring the long-range viability of the practices. In coordination with hospital Compliance department maintains awareness of pertinent regulatory standards and develops methods for meeting standards effectively, in accordance with the needs of the department and the organization. Promotes staff awareness of standards and facilitates development of required skills/processes for ongoing compliance. Oversees physician relations, physician contracts in employed practices, and assists CEO with physician recruitment. Prepares annual budgets and annual operating plans for all physician practices and administers all functions within approved income and expense budgets. Develops and implements appropriate management reports to accurately reflect physicians' activities, including operational reports, referral reports and financial reports. Assists CEO and CFO in negotiating contractual agreements, on behalf of LRH employed physicians , with third party payors. Ensures that LRH practices meet all governmental, third party, and hospital compliance standards. Responsible for education of physicians and office staff relative to regulatory requirements and standards. Acts as liaison to independent physicians and practices in developing strong physician relations with LRH. For independent physicians and practices, assists CEO with recruitment and recruitment contracts, provides assistance with practice start up and development, and management and billing services. Works with Medical Staff to resolve issues and assists CEO in Medical Staff activities as required.
Bachelors degree in Healthcare or Business Administration required (Masters degree preferred)
Eight to ten years of hands-on operations experience managing at least three physician practices. Position requires a thorough understanding of practice operations and the ability to provide direction for medical practices to maximize reimbursement and minimize operating costs. Experience with managing patient satisfaction systems/processes preferred. Must demonstrate proficiency at hospital and department specific computer software and technology.
Essential to possess effective time management and organizational skills. Knowledge of planning and operational strategies to direct goals consistent with organizational needs. Understanding of operational systems related to physician practices. Comprehension of healthcare payer systems. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, staff, executive management and the public. Skill in developing business plans and proposals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proficient with spreadsheet and data base applications.
