Executive Director of the Child Study and Development Center (CSDC) & Clinical Faculty (Open Rank) position in the Department of Family Studies to begin August 1, 2013. The majority of the position requires the administration of the CSDC. The administrative responsibilities include maintaining the CSDC's position as a leader in childcare, the field of early childhood education, and university laboratory schools; working with potential donors; advocating for children and families; and providing leadership to the CSDC staff. Responsibilities for clinical faculty in Family Studies include advising and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in teaching methods and child development, and serving on committees.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in child development, early childhood education, or a related field is required. A successful candidate will have a proven record of administrative experience demonstrated by vision and strategic planning, and budget and staff management skills within early childhood settings. Knowledge of current early childhood approaches to curriculum and professional development are important. The Director is expected to supervise CSDC staff, facilitate undergraduate and graduate research at CSDC, build external relationships and engage in fundraising. As a Family Studies Clinical Professor, candidates must demonstrate successful teaching at the undergraduate level and with teaching at graduate level preferred.

The mission of the Family Studies Department (www.chhs.unh.edu/fs/index) is to support the well being of individuals and families through research, teaching and service. Programs emphasize both theoretical and practical knowledge about life span development, child advocacy, interpersonal relationships, social and economic roles of families, and intervention programs that support families. There are seven tenure-track faculty and 220 undergraduate and graduate majors. The Family Studies Department operates the CSDC, (www.chhs.unh.edu/csdc/index), a 12-month program, with 18 staff members that provides four programs to 122 children and their families. The CSDC is a NAEYC-accredited center known for its Reggio Emilia-inspired and project-based curriculum and its special efforts to promote a diverse community of learners. The CSDC has four purposes: (1) to provide care and education to young children and their families; (2) to serve as a child development laboratory to train students in several disciplines about teaching young children; (3) to provide a resource to conduct research involving young children and their families; and (4) to serve the community and state. The department also operates a marriage and family therapy graduate program with a corresponding Marriage and Family Therapy Center.
