Job Description:
Cardiac Rehabilitation Role: Provides direct patient care in Cardiac Rehabilitation. Monitors patients during exercise sessions. Provides one-on-one patient education regarding cardiac risk factors and behavior modification, as needed. Responds quickly and intervenes appropriately to changes in the patient’s condition, providing appropriate treatment. Communicates with patient’s physician and Registered Nurse about changes in the clinical condition including symptomalogy. Therapy Technician Role: Provides direct patient care in the form of assistance with ADLs, transfers, mobility, modalities, and exercise following a specific plan of care developed by the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist and under the supervision of the therapist. Provides transcription of reports generated on micro-cassette dictation and back up secretarial support for receiving phone calls, scheduling patients, and auditing for chart/billing completeness and accuracy Accepts and supports the mission, policies and procedures of Brazosport Memorial Hospital, Patient Care Services and the assigned department, including the principles and actions of care delivery in the BMH Team Model. Communicates with patient’s physician and Registered Nurse about changes in the clinical condition including symptomalogy.
Required: New Grad
Preferred: Prefer one year experience in setting applied for.

Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology required; B.S. in Physical Therapy preferred.

Training
One or more current year of phase II or phase III cardiac rehab experience preferred

Special Skills
Ability to read, comprehend and interpret professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers or other employees of the organization. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables, such as problems with or among employees.

Required Licensure
BCLS, ACLS (ACLS required within 2 months of hire or transfer).
