Under general direction, develops, implements and evaluates exercise prescriptions and exercise sessions for all phases of cardio/pulmonary rehabilitation, as well as other chronic illnesses. Supervises pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic stress tests. Creates educational materials and sessions to both cardiac and pulmonary patients and normal individuals.
Education: Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology preferred, or Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science with core curriculum in cardiac rehabilitation.
Experience: 6 month internship in Cardiac Rehabilitation
Licensure: ACLS required, ACSM certification required within 1 year
Skills and Abilities: Ability to deal with a wide variety of people and medical staff. Interpretation of basic lab and other medical information as it effects stress testing. Screening for contraindications in stress testing. Interpretation of resting and exercise, 12 lead EKG’s and abnormal Exercise responses.
