Post by Jobing - Requisition Number 13–0136 Post Date 12/10/2013 Title Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) City Thornton State CO This job exists to: Performs those duties to assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients including proficiency with amalgam and resin restorations. Performs reception, chair–side assisting, inventory and dental records duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assist the dentists and hygienists in chair–side procedures routinely done in a general dental practice. * Responsible for preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedure.
3) When passed over the interproximal surface, dental floss does not shred, break, or indicate other irregularities. Contour/Contact: 1) Interproximal contact(s) is/are re–established so that there is visual and definite, but not excessive, resistance to the passage of waxed dental floss through the contact area(s). 2) Interproximal contact is located such that four functional embrasures (occlusal, gingival, facial, and lingual) are reproduced, consistent with normal contours. 3) The restoration reproduces the normal contours of the tooth.
- Responsible for the sterilization of instruments, and the cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work areas. * Schedule patients, does routine reception work, accurately records information on patient records. * Assist in implement the processing of encounters and billing and bookkeeping procedures. * Identify related medical and/or social problems, fill out insurance forms; order supplies and materials.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and materials as well as maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of inventory. * Demonstrate proficiency with amalgam and resin restorations: Margin Integrity/Surface Finish: 1) The restoration–tooth interface is not detectable visually or with the tine of an explorer. There is no evidence of marginal excess (overhang), marginal deficiency, voids or open margins. 2) The surface of the restoration is uniformly smooth and free of scratches, pits, grooves, ripples, and other irregularities.
The proximal and axial contours of the restoration are convex and continuous with natural tooth surfaces. Anatomy/Occlusion: 1) Major anatomical features (major grooves, pits, marginal ridges, and cuspal planes) of the restoration closely reproduce the normal anatomical and functional form of the tooth. 2) The minor anatomical features are reproduced as necessary. 3) When checked with articulating ribbon or paper, all centric and excursive contacts on the restored tooth are consistent in size, shape, and intensity with such contacts of adjacent teeth.
A. Education / Experience 1. EDDA Certificate. 2.
Maintain a current CPR certification. 3. Previous experience desired, but not required. B.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: 1. High level of skills as a Dental Assistant. 2. Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community 3.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred 4. An ability and willingness to learn and expand abilities. 5. An ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with patients and coworkers.
Ability to work in a team environment a must. 6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 7.
Ability to prepare and maintain charts, records, logs, and reports.
