Job Summary and Mission
Supervises and coordinates export clearance activities in the export environment in accordance with U.S. and international requirements, laws and regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of exported products. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Develop and maintain excellent service to internal and external customers at all times.
Compute tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported to foreign destinations.
Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of exported products.
Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and service standards for export clearance operations.
Develop written procedures for handling each account, including schedule of service fees, shipment and booking process, and any other related information.
Ensure account procedures are input into appropriate databases.
Ensure all policies and procedures are consistently administered.
Identify areas of concern in the clients' export processes through monitoring of team performance against company and client standards, regular audit of shipment documents and accounting, and periodic client reviews.
Communicate transaction problems or irregularities to manager and assist in identifying solutions.
Conduct training courses and seminars for staff and clients in areas of shipping and export administration regulations and procedures, Consularization Regulations and export services.
Train new staff in assigned duties, or delegate training responsibility to other experienced staff.
Assess progress of trainees and add additional duties as appropriate.
Monitor quantity and quality of jobs being performed, providing guidance and advice as necessary.
Assign supervisory duties to staff acting in a lead capacity.
Communicate with manager regarding progress and problems or issues.
Conduct regular meetings with staff to assess group's overall status; discuss ideas for improvement and inform staff of new developments.
Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports.
Address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies.
Summary of Experience and Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred; or equivalent combination of work experience and completion of the TOP Program.
Minimum four years related experience.
Minimum three years industry experience preferred.
Minimum one year supervisory and/or lead experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledgeable in Export Administration, Department of Commerce, and Consularization regulations, and recordkeeping.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of U.S. or international currency, weight, volume and distance measurements.
Basic understanding of business financial principles including P & L's, budgets, payroll, financial reporting and expense control.
Ability to allocate work assignments and/or tasks responsibilities to others to maximize the organization's and the individual's effectiveness.
