    • College graduate
    • Demonstrated leadership experience
    • Experience working with kids or in a camp setting a plus
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinate and manage daily operations and programmatic components of Extended Care & lunch programs, creating a high energy, organized, professional and positive experience for campers, parents and staff
    • Support Camp Director in managing all aspects of the Extended Care & lunch programs, including:
      • staffing assignments & schedule
      • morning snack & lunch distribution
      • camper activities & programming
      • supply & material management
      • parent survey results
      • camper check-in and check-out
    • Communicate with and support the Operations Coordinator to prepare and manage lunch, Extended Care capacity, camper paperwork and rosters, and other related administrative duties
    • Manage the Extended Care check-in and check-out processes, ensuring a high quality experience for parents through the delivery of the Galileo News, communication of important information, and solicitation of feedback
    • Make changes to improve Extended Care and lunch programs or accommodate specific campers, innovate, and adapt curriculum; communicate regularly with and provide feedback to your Camp Director
    • Check in with Camp Director and other staff frequently to communicate staff, camper, and parent needs
    • Contribute to and participate in daily camp ceremonies and all-camp activities as necessary
    • Set, work toward, and achieve measurable professional development goals
    WORK HOURS AND DATES

    The camp environment is demanding, requiring intense dedication and work ethic from each staff member. In this section, we attempt to give you a detailed snapshot of the camp schedule. Depending on the time of summer or the specific week or day, the needs of camp and resulting staff hours may vary. We seek and make offers to staff who we believe are capable of thriving in this environment and contributing to camp’s success.

    The camp day runs, on average, 9 hours for the Extended Care Coordinator. Each camp varies based on specific needs of the site, with the Extended Care Coordinator generally arriving between 9:30am and 10:00am and leaving between 6:00pm and 6:30pm. In addition to these hours, staff are expected to attend a weekly staff meeting. Though each camp’s schedule is unique, below is a sample work week:

    • Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6:30pm
    • Staff Meetings: Either Wednesday or Thursday of each week from 4-5pm
    • Staff Training: Attend two days of mandatory training on June 1 st and 2 nd
    • Set-up Day: Participate in one mandatory set-up day the weekend before camp starts
    • Camp Clean-up: Participate in cleaning and packing up camp for an additional 5-10 hours during final week of camp, which are included in your weekly compensation
    • Operations Set-Up Days: Work with your Camp Director for one to two days prior to camp starts
    COMPENSATION

    The Extended Care Coordinator position is a temporary, seasonal position and does not include benefits. This position falls into the legal category of organized camp staff, which has specific allowances for calculating salary and hours worked. Minimum weekly compensation for organized camp staff is 85% of minimum wage multiplied by 40 hours. While compensated at this rate, staff may work more than 40 hours weekly. Expectations for work hours at Galileo programs are outlined above; we are committed to competitively compensating staff and attempt wherever possible to set salaries above this rate.
    • $475 per week of camp (6-8 weeks, depending on location)
    • Staff Training: You will be compensated at a rate of $54.40 per day for two days of training (Saturday June 1 st and Sunday June 2 nd )
    • Set-up Day: You will be compensated at a rate of $54.40 for one day of camp setup
    • Operations Set-Up Days: You will be compensated at your weekly camp rate, prorated by day
    • Payroll is processed every 2 nd Friday. Checks will be delivered to camp each 2 nd Friday
    SUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED
    • General supervision, ongoing observation and evaluation provided by Camp Director
