The External Loan Advisor is principally responsible for enhancing the Credit union"s overall consumer lending presence by identifying and contacting members via outbound calling. This is a results driven position which should increase the Credit Union"s products per household and overall profitability through measurable increases in applications and funded loan across all product lines. Additional responsibilities include referring products to other areas of the credit union such as first mortgages, commercial lending, deposits and investments as well as answering inbound consumer lending calls as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Make outbound calls to members and future members based on potential leads to include: loan payoff requests, recent inquiries, approved but non-funded loans of all types, business development referrals, mortgage loans closed, home equity lines of credit available balance draws, select prescreens and other yet to be identified opportunities.
Achieve assigned lending goals including effectively selling auxiliary products such as payment protection, GAP, and MRC.
Perform all loan requests in an accurate and efficient manner to develop a lending relationship between the member and the Credit Union
Provide extraordinary service. Be responsive to member needs and keep supervisor notified of concerns or issues in a timely manner.
Understand and be able to explain all loan products or special in detail.
Utilize resources to attain an understanding of current Credit Union policies and procedures.
Ensure all member contact and disclosures are done in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
Obtain Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) number.
Handle all member inquires with professionalism and courtesy.
Answer inbound consumer lending calls as needed.
Have an advanced working knowledge of FORUM"s products, services, and systems.
Abide by dress code policy as outlined in Employee Handbook. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent work experience in Banking/Finance
Knowledge of consumer lending products
Previous sales experience
High level of customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong Business acumen
Strong listening and problem solving skills
Strong analytical and interpretation skills
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office software)
Effective oral and written communication skills
