The External Mortgage Originator is responsible for developing a base of local real estate and builder contacts to use FORUM Mortgage"s services with the primary goal being to originate mortgage loans for non-members.

Develop relationships and service contacts in the real estate industry to produce mortgage loans from non-members.
Develop proficiency in lending guidelines for investors and correspondent relationships with FORUM Mortgage.
Conduct mortgage application interviews from the applicants generated through the established contacts. Ensure a smooth and timely mortgage process and closing by:

Pre-qualifying applicants.
Counseling customers on the mortgage process.
Obtaining all necessary documents and information.
Keeping all involved up-to-date on the status of the loan.
Resolving problems as needed.

Perform all work professionally and accurately. Ensure the reputation of the company is maintained at the highest standard.
Keep informed of the changes in the mortgage industry.
Meet the origination goals and objectives that have been established by the company.

College Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience in selling mortgages
Knowledge of qualifying and underwriting guidelines for mortgages under the FNMA guidelines
Previous successful sales experience
Ability to network and develop contacts with realtors, builders, and others related to the mortgage industry
High level of customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong business acumen
Strong problem solving skills
Demonstrated initiative
Effective oral and written communication skills
Displays professionalism
Teamwork oriented
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office software)
