The intern will engage in hands-on projects with the TSTC's External Relations staff in various areas. The semester will be during the legislative session; therefore the intern will assist in committee meetings, tracking bills, and any other assignment that is delegated to him or her pertaining to External Relations. TSTC will help prepare the Intern for roles in state government as well as basic knowledge of higher education funding pertaining to technical colleges.

Applicants should be professional, positive, self-motivated and have strong work ethic. Strong writing, communication, and problem-solving skills are required. Understandings of basic state government, higher education, are issues that are recommended but not required. Interns must be currently enrolled in a higher education institution and should have a desire to learn about the legislative process. Interns are expected to work approximately 10-15 hours per week during the semester and may be asked to work more depending on the need of the External Relations team. Professional attire is required.

Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must be enrolled in a Political Science or similar program at the University of Texas in Austin and have earned 30 credit hours or more. Experience with External Relations is not required, but candidates must have excellent communication skills, demonstrate competency with Microsoft Office and have a desire to assist and learn in this environment.
