This position is responsible for verifying and approving Departmental Deposits. This involves the handling of large volumes of cash and checks. This position is also responsible for the scanning, reconciling, and transmitting electronically for deposit, all checks received for deposit each day. Daily this position prepares balancing reports for all cash and check Departmental Deposits received by the Treasury Management Cashier Department. The position requires the knowledge of check and currency negotiability as well as good business practices.
Reviews the accuracy and negotiability of cash and check deposits. Researches cash and check errors, notifies supervisor and department, facilitates resolutions. Reconciles the daily cash and checks, prepares for transfer to the vault. Performs end of day reconciliation with the Treasury Management Deposit Control Team.
Prepares and maintains incoming Departmental Deposit Logs for the Night Depository, deposits received in person, and two Armored Courier deliveries. Reviews deposit transmittals received for accuracy with regard to deposit requirements. Verifies that the support documentation is present and if not notifies the department by email. Prepares an end of day balancing report.
Scans all checks for transmission to the University Bank account for deposit and same day credit and reconciles any differences. Prepares detail reports for record retention. Prepares Deposit Summary Report for End of Day Balancing. Completes a Remote Deposit Capture Checklist. Performs archiving process for all checks. Performs destruction of checks for the allotted record retention period under dual control.
Prepares various statistical reports relating to Departmental Deposits and Remote Deposit Capture.
Other duties as assigned by the Fiscal Operations Supervisor, Sr. Administrative Assistant, Associate, Sr. Associate or University Controller.
A high school diploma and three years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Knowledge of banking procedures and cash handling experience is strongly preferred.
Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Overtime as required during peak periods.
